FAQ’s

Construction
All pendants are made from New Zealand grown solid timber and handcrafted using traditional techniques. Every effort is made to select timber that is free from knots and defects. Please be aware that this is a natural product and subject to the wonderful variances found in timber.

The woollen diffusers used in Lux and Circlet pendants are made from carpet wool over-runs sourced from a local yarn manufacturer. These are glue bonded to material backing to add durability.

Lead time
The standard lead time for a made-to-order pendant is 4–6 weeks.

Strata and Drift luminaires

Length
As a rule, this is calculated by measuring the length of the bench or table, then subtracting 200mm of each end. For example a bench measuring 3000mm would require a 2600mm luminaire. This ensures optimal light distribution and a balanced look in proportion to your bench length.

Light output
Our linear pendants feature both downlighting and uplighting, providing 750 lumens per meter of downlight—equivalent to one bright standard light bulb per meter.
The up and down light can either be on the same circuit, or separated. These luminaires are fully dimmable and come with compatible drivers.
Please note: dimmer switches must be supplied and installed by your electrician.

Suspension
There are two options

  • Braided cable 2 core flex. This integrates weight rated cable and flex. The cable is fed through cable grippers attached to ceiling plates

  • Down-rods contain concealed wiring within a hollow rod and are fixed to the same type of ceiling plate. They are cut to a fixed length with limited adjustability, so it’s important to determine your desired drop height before installation.
Depending on the weight of the timber, pendants longer than 2600mm may require down rods rather than braided cable.

  • Generally these luminaries are suspended 1900mm above floor height for a kitchen island.

Remote LED driver
Both luminaires include one or two LED drivers, which convert 240V mains power down to 24V. These drivers are separate from the fitting and are typically installed in a ceiling void or similar accessible space above the pendant. If this isn’t possible, your electrician can suggest an alternative location.
